Wild women are taught to tame themselves.

Wild women are raised to cage themselves.

Wild women are indoctrinated to hate themselves.

Wild women are brainwashed into hating themselves.

Wild women are often raped, abandoned, abused, into divorcing their wild nature in order to join in an unholy matrimony with misogynistic patriarchy.

Wild women are forced to release her wild ways, the ways of the forest, the law if the jungle, the court of the ocean to obey the law of “man”.

Wild women are a threat.

Wild women are a force.

Wild women cannot be controlled.

Wild women create and own their destiny.

Wild women have no masters.

Wild women are their own masters.

I declare that I am a wild Goddess.

I declare that I am a free Goddess.

I declare that I am my own Goddess.

I refuse to tame myself or any other.

I refuse to cage myself or any other.

I refuse to hate myself or any other.

I refuse to brainwash myself or any other. I refuse to rape, abandon, or abuse myself or any other.

I refuse to divorce my magic, my truth, my power, my beliefs, or any of my wild ways.

I am untamed.

I am free.

I am wild.

I am powerful.

I am owned by me.

And will apologize for none of it.

Yup, you're Magick alright. You open your lips, and what emerges is the holiest of the Divine essence to ever drip forth unto this unholy, unworthy, unappreciative plane of existence.

And you make shit happen when you speak too.

You're Magick when you wake up in the morning before you even brush your teeth. So when they tell you that you need 95,000 things in your home to actually perform a decent ritual, it's not entirely true.

Your thoughts are ritual. Your tears are ritual. Your screams, curses, and groans. Your laughter is ritual. In truth, all you need is you.

But that's idealism, and this is not an ideal world. Quite the opposite. Keep it real, when you crawl into bed after just getting laid off, you don't feel your magical best. Not when your children are screaming bloody murder and you're plotting your escape. Not when your husband pisses you off for the 19th time this hour. Not when you've overdrawn your account and not when you forgot to do laundry and none of your bras are fresh.

Culturally, we've associated magicians and witches with tools - brooms, cauldrons, wands, potions, etc - even specific types of dress are indications that one is capable of performing great magic.

This conversation about your arsenal is not a gathering of things that will make you magical - you're already magical - but it is the armor that can shield you from negativity, block your own inner doubt, boost your confidence and elevate your magical intensity from average to supreme.

Some of these tools are meant to assist you with getting into the right mental space for seeding, manifesting, directing, channeling, or clearing energy. Others help you keep the space around you focused and high vibrational. The best tools help to awaken something particular in your Ancestral DNA that enhances the potency of your ritual, and even placebo items can make you FEEL like you're doing something - and with magic, feeling goes a long way.

Journal, coffee, laptop, and glasses

Journal - this isn't so much of a magical tool as it is a personal asset. Keep a journal to record spells & rituals and chart their success or outcome. You can refer back to make tweaks, use a successful spell again, or remind yourself that you are exactly as dope as you are. It is our precise and focused approach to ritual that activates the science in our spirituality.

Scrying pendulum

Pendulum - both a personal asset and a magical tool. Use a pendulum to provide basic guidance and insight when you're unsure and need clarity. Pendulums are good for answering questions with yes, no, and maybe responses. The greater confidence you gain, the less you'll need to rely on a pendulum and you'll be able to better trust your own inner voice for guidance. For deeper insight on topics with heavy emotional resonance, seek the guidance of a trusted spiritual reader to ensure the objectivity of the message.

Bundle of dried sage burning on altar

Sage - Essential especially if you have frequent guests in your home and/or interact with the outside world. If you leave your house, you need sage in the home. You need to be prepared for when you interact with the vampires, the energy drainers, the insecure, the neurotic, the know-it-alls, the racists, the feverish, the people who don’t know how to keep their issues from bumping into you and rubbing all up in your aura. You need to be prepared to get back to feeling like yourself.

Woman's legs in bathtub

Spiritual Baths - So on top of having sage, you should also keep Epson salt and baking soda in your home in case you need to take an impromptu spiritual bath. An unscheduled bath once a week can take you from zero to hero. We have to remember to spend enough time keeping our energy levels on point so that when we enter into ritual space, we are not burdened with the energy, spirits, and negativity of others.

Tingsha Bells

Bell, sistrum, and/or drum - Call forth your righteous and honorable Ancestral spirits with sound. Any one of these instruments can disrupt stagnant energy, again making sure that your ritual space is ready for work, and during ritual, sound can enhance the potency of your work. Recall that emotion intensifies the effect of spellwork; set your affirmations and prayers to rhythm and let the vibrations carry over the entire length of the Universe. Attuning to frequency is especially useful for spells to attract (people, money, opportunities, etc.) and sound waves assist with identifying resonance.

Essential oils

Essential oils - Every spiritual home should have a few; I recommend lavender, peppermint, lemon, clove, oregano, rosemary, and tea tree to start. Lavender quells the emotions and keeps them at bay; peppermint awakens the senses and arouses you energetically; rosemary activates your thoughts and allows divine words to roll of the tongue with ease. Lemon, clove, oregano, and tea tree are all good tools for health and wellness - for easing pain, cleaning wounds, soothing burns, and covering bruises with care. Essential oils can also be used for healing spiritual or emotional wounds as well, and can be applied to meridians and pressure points to release grief, fear, anger, etc.

Hand holding a piece of raw rose quartz up to the sky

Crystals - There are hundreds, maybe thousands, and wading through the different types can be daunting for a newbie. Sometimes even I get overwhelmed when I walk into a crystal shop by the myriad of options available to me. So if you don’t know where to start, begin with the stones that will activate, align, and charge your chakras: garnet, carnelian, citrine, rose quartz, turquoise, lapis lazuli, and amethyst. Above these seven, having a good clear quartz crystal, which can be used to magnify the effects of any other crystal, and selenite, which can be used to remove energy from other crystals, would be ideal. After completing your work with a particular crystal, no need to get another; simple cleanse the crystal thoroughly and erase all remnants of the previous intention. Then you can use it again for a new ritual when the time comes.

cat walking past lit incense and Buddha statue

Incense - Sticks, cones, resin, all are beneficial and none are preferred by me over the other. Sticks are easier to work with if you are planning to hold the incense while it is burning, while resin tends to create a thicker smoke and cones burn quickly to great effect. For fragrance, go for a high quality frankincense, if you'd like one scent that has many applications. I'm fond of Nag Champa as well, and the resin-on-a-stick brand Fred Soll, but my current favorites are the many fragrances of Prahbuji’s Gifts.

Bonus: Magical Hours app - called Planetary Hours Pro and available via Google Play (Unfortunately, it's not in the Apple Store). This app gives you insight into which planetary energy is governing a particular time of day. This can help us to masterfully time our rituals: scheduling our love spells for the Venus hour; doing our protection spells during the Saturn hour; using our magic for courage and strength during the Mars hour. Will your spells work without aligning them in this way? Yes. Does it hurt to be in tune with the cosmos? Absolutely not. Doing spells in the time and energy that is supported by the universe can only assist with the success of our magick, not dampen it in any way.

Hopefully, this list of tools can aid you in preparing your home, and your spiritual work, for long-term ritual success. Remember that everything you think, speak, and do is a ritual in its own way, so we have a responsibility to be mindful of our actions at all times. Let’s create only what we intend to create, and fuel only what we intend to fuel. We goddesses are magick through and through. May none ever doubt this, especially not ourselves.

This month the Full moon occurs Monday Nov. 14th in the sign of Taurus and it's particularly close to the Earth. In fact it's so close it's considered a rare super moon because this is the closest the moon has been to the Earth in 70 years and this won't happen again until the year 2034.

Since this full moon is in Taurus those with prominent Scorpio energy may feel more at odds with the world right now. There's a sense of conflict between the opposing energies of these two signs: earthy and practical vs. transformative and emotional. So whereas all week you might have been going through an emotional roller coaster and obsessing about what needs to be changed in the world (Scorpio energy) now you're feeling pushed to collect yourself and your thoughts in an organized way to take action in a way that makes the most sense (Taurus). The latter can be particularly frustrating, heavy and challenging for those who tend not to be organized, proactive or resistant to change.

Some people are feeling compelled to talk about love and peace more because Taurus is ruled by Venus and so there's also more of a sense of passion, romance and sensuality in the air during this full moon. Your creative energy may also be heightened now so make sure you get things down on paper or video. share your inspiring messages with the world. Your voice matters. Your creativity is power. The world needs it as encouragement to keep healing, learning, preparing, fighting and doing the work to have the freedom we deserve.

This may be an increasingly intense time for all those with prominent placements in Fixed signs such as Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. If you have your sun, moon or rising or other planets in those signs at high degrees take the next few days to write down all your thoughts and ideas, be careful of your communication, meditate and bring closure to anything you started earlier this month that you haven't finished.

  • What were your goals at the beginning of November?

  • Are you on track? What can you do that you haven't done?

  • What can you learn or what do you need to learn?

This full moon is full of learning opportunities as it's energy is pushing us to step out of our comfort zones and do more in the political world. The concept of the political being spiritual reigns true more than ever now as the veil is thinning both literally and figuratively in our political perspectives and the spiritual realm.

Mercury has also moved from Scorpio to Sagittarius so now we are increasingly concerned about what is fair and right. It's time to increase our faith and as my friend Conscious says put "Spirit over everything." But not necessarily in the traditional way that most are used to.

What can you do spiritually that you haven't been?

How much stronger would we be if we united regardless of our differences in religious faiths?

Is it time to start seeing more of the similarities between Christians and Muslims (for example) and stop focusing on differences?

Mars is also in Aquarius right now which is wonderful news for assisting us with trying new things in new ways and being more communal. Yes, this an emotionally intense time but if we tune into our divine cosmic energy and connect with nature to stay grounded everything is in alignment for us to succeed as long as we do the work to stay motivated and increase our intellectual capacity to discern our true socioeconomic and political reality.

Maybe you never thought about your ancestors or deceased relatives being around you trying to send you messages of love and protection but now is the time. Spend some time giving honor to your relatives who've passed away and ask them to help you release any fear and despair you may be feeling as a result of the political upheaval occurring right now. The more that we communicate with the other side daily, lighting candles with the intent of bringing protection & justice, meditating with sage asking for balance and love then the more our angels, spirit guides and ancestors will assist us with these goals. This is how we survived all the previous forms of slavery, injustice, segregation, criminalization, etc. by fighting spiritually and mentally. How fitting it is that this full moon is happening on a Monday which is the day of the moon and Yemaya's day. Yemaya (African Yoruba mother Goddess) will give you comfort and healing energy if you honor and acknowledge her. You may know her by another name like Goddess Kwan Yin, Isis, Shakti, Venus or Tara.

Full Moon Rituals:

  1. Write out the things that make you feel afraid, overwhelmed, heavy and unloved.

  2. Cleanse your crystals with sage as well as yourself and your home.

  3. Burn black candles for protection, strength and resilience or white for new energy and pure thought or blue for healing.

  4. Pull out photos of your ancestors, acknowledge them and give thanks.

  5. Ask for support in loving yourself more.

  6. Ask for support in being open to learning new things and strength in doing things you haven't done before to participate in community healing & justice.

  7. Ask to help you release all fear and replace it with courage and tenacity then burn the list of fears & heavy feelings

As the paper burns say "be gone" seven times and then in closing say "so it is" or "ase" or "so mote it be". Anytime the fears resurface say "be gone" or "I rebuke you" or "boy/girl bye!"

Whatever you believe in God, Jesus, Mary, the Great Mother, Krishna, Allah, Buddha, Jehovah, Yahweh, Amun Ra, Isis, Maat, the Great Mother, Gaia, Goddess, Shiva, Kali, Lakshmi, Ganesh, Vishnu, Haile Selassie, Olodumare, Yemaya, Obatala, Elegba, the Tao, the Supreme Being, the Universe, the One ... pray to them, not just once a day, not just five times a day but commune with them, connect with them in a way you haven't before.

Commune with your deities today even if you went to church or temple on Saturday or Sunday, do more spiritual work today; make your spiritual work apart of your daily life as it is the ultimate armor for challenging times. If you aren't in the habit of this as your lifestyle already take the next 30 days to commit to it and this time next month you'll be amazed how different you feel.

Commune with the higher power connect with it not just to take away your fears but to protect you, your loved ones and everyone who needs healing and protection to bring liberation, justice and peace. Keep in mind that sometimes there is chaos before justice. But find comfort in remembering previous movements. Remember we come from ancestors who rebelled and resisted. We survive. We rise. We multiply. Over and over and over.
