It's important to understand Scorpio energy whether you have it in your chart or not because various planets travel through Scorpio throughout the year, activating this deep penetrating, watery energy. It pushes us to go deeper and want more. If you're feeling more intensely dissatisfied lately, thank Scorpio energy for that. She wants you to deal with it and claim what you desire. This energy pushes us to face and deal with things we'd rather not. It keeps us up late at night processing complex emotions.

If you surrender to this energy, it becomes a season for healing... particularly around our secrets, sexuality, addictions, grudges and death. This is the perfect time to examine your feelings and beliefs about death, reincarnation, past lives, and other "taboos."

You may feel torn between hiding insecurities and vulnerabilities or courageously releasing them creatively as a strategic power move. So this is the perfect time to push through and finish any ideas you started working on during Libra season. Scorpio season gives us a deep stability, compelling us to channel our feelings into seriously focused work and creativity.

Be mindful of Mercury being in Scorpio from Oct 24th until Nov. 12th. Communication may be more intense, probing, sharp, obsessive, analytical, and profound. You feel compelled to discuss more deep personal issues or be more secretive. Be sure to do root chakra and throat chakra work over the next few weeks. Meditating with crystals can assist with this process. Here are some the best crystals to work with during this time:

Aquamarine for deep meditation, peace, serenity, increased spiritual connection, communication with spirits, protection from gossip/negative talk, wisdom to see truth.

Malachite provides protection, gets rid of nightmares, promotes business success, and balance in relationships. It's also said to be a mirror to the soul and will reflect or bring your inner self outward & to light whether good or bad.

Hematite protective, grounding, harmonizing mind body and soul

Garnet balances the root chakra, promotes self confidence, strengthens hope and trust. It's also said to cure depression, increase spiritual awareness, aid in search of past life information, support transformation and stimulate business success.

Jasper promotes strength, security, courage, and stability. It also eases stress, promotes balance & repels fears or nightmares.

It's also a season of intense psychic energy where more intuitives, healers, brujas, and witches feel compelled to bond and share resources. Empaths, mediums, energy readers all those with strong 3rd eye gifts must be particularly careful this season but may also be feeling intensely more powerful. Use it wisely.

From Oct. 28-Nov. 1st we'll feel the energy of

the New Moon,

Halloween,

Samhain,

The Day of the Dead

and

Diwali festival of lights holy day

celebrating Lakshmi, Hindu goddess of prosperity

This is the perfect time for visiting burial grounds of loved ones, sprucing up ancestral altars, reconnecting to your past lives, and remembering your roots as you do root chakra work and set intentions for your future.

This is also a great time to strengthen your studies and relationship to orisha goddess Oya as she guards the gates between earth and the spiritual realm, rules over cemeteries, helps us be more strategic, warrior spirits and guides us through change with courage. Like Oya, Scorpio season says "Whether you like it or not you gone' get this work."

For those unfamiliar with the story of Rahab, you can read it here without commentary. Rahab is one of my favorite female biblical characters, I dunno... I've always been partial to the harlot. I suppose it's because I feel I can relate. Although I have never exchanged sexual favors for money or gifts, I have exchanged my body for affection, for love, for a sense of security and acceptance. I have been on the receiving end of scathing rumors that were based more in fantasy than in any conceivable reality. I have laughed at the hypocrisy of men who, while still wearing the scent of me, would speak on the immorality of pre/extra-marital sex. I know what it is like to live down to a preconceived notion of who you are because it is expected of you.

I also know what it feels like to reject the shame of a colored past and move bravely into the blank slate of the future. I know what it is to rise above my own misconception of myself to bravely stand and face the word without apology. I am learning what it is to use all of what I got to get what I want and be applauded for it rather than be judged for it. I am redeeming my Rahab. I am bringing the abundance of my sexual energy to fruition in a balanced and harmonious way. I love my Rahab, my harlot, my sacral chakra, my life force. I embrace her tenderness, her vulnerability, her sensuality, her innocence, her rawness. Without her, there would be no Miss Buttafly.

Rahab's cleverness and ingenuity secured her freedom and that of her family. She leveraged her position as the town's secret keeper, and eventually became the great, great, great, great, grandmother of the biblical King David.

Every so-called harlot has to transcend her own negative or counter-intuitive notions and ideas about her value as a woman and a sexual being. She has to redeem herself. She has to regain her memory and become confident in her power. They say, "you can't turn a ho into a housewife." That's true. YOU can't. She has to do that for herself.

"I gave him everything I had and he did this to me!!!"

-- Heartbroken Sista --

It is impossible for a woman to give ALL of herself to anyone or anything. It is only her belief that she is limited in her capacity. Women are direct manifestations of the abundance of the universe in every way. We manifest abundance in our hips, our wombs, our breasts our emotions, and our orgasms, just to name a few. We stand in our power as women when we shed the limiting belief that we only have but so much to give.

This is why we so often carry deep hurt and pain long after the end of a relationship. Resentment is born from the "I gave him all I had" way of thinking. We begin to place blame because we feel as though we have been robbed of our best years, our youth, our vitality, and our sexual fire. None of these things can be any farther from the truth.

As the protectors of the womb, women have the divine right to healing, to restoration, to replenishing, and to experience and express love. These are essential realities to our sacred womanhood. We would not be able to properly nurture our children, our men, or any of the countless other relationships that we care for as women if being limited in our ability to give and to receive was part and parcel to our plight.

It is not only our belief that we only have so much to give that holds us back. It is also our belief that we can and should only receive but so much that stifles our blossoming. Our capacity to receive is only limited by our perception that there are limits.

Exercise wisdom in all things, above all. Trust your intuition. Accept that in life, pain will come. Yet, remember that you are a unique manifestation of the Divine Mother, and as such, abundance is your birthright. No one can ever take that away from you without your permission.

Miss Buttafly
